Manes, Edward (1804 - 22 May 1885)

Manes - On Friday, may 22, 1885, in this city of apoplexy, Mr. Edward Manes, aged eighty-two years.

Mr. Manes was born in Ireland, and emigrated to Canada at the age of twelve years. He was married in 1823, to Jane Hodgson, by whom he had six children, four of whom are now living. In 1840 he again married, and by his second wife had eight children, seven of whom are living.

Mr. Mane’s health had been remarkably good through life up to two years ago, when he received a paralytic stroke. He moved to this city about three years ago.

Mr. Manes had been a prominent and respected man, and leaves a wide circle of relatives and friends to mourn his passing away in a ripe, old age.
