Hawks, Lucy (19 FEB 1870 - 19 APR 1934)
The death of Mrs. Ira Hawks, 64, north of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), occurred last Thursday morning. She suffered a heart attack while eating breakfast and died instantly. Mrs. Hawks was a former school teacher and well known in the county. She is survived by her husband and two sons, Merwin of Marengo, and Donald, at home. Three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Green, Curtiss; Misses Elizabeth and May Skidmore, Holway, and four grandchildren, also survive. Two daughters preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held from the Congregational Church at Curtiss Saturday afternoon, Rev. W.P. Powell of Owen, officiating. Burial was made in the family lot at the Abbotsford Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Frank Lupient, Morris Klemetson, William Stevens, B.B. Green, Rex Copper and Sabin Scherf. A quartet composed of Dorothy Pudlas, Mrs. Virgil Teach, John Lokken and Wilford Marcott, sang "It is Well With My Soul," and "Face to Face," with Mrs. Mrs. J. Johnson at the organ. The Rev. and Mrs. W.P. Powell sang, "My Savior Knows."
Floral tributes were in charge of Esther Pudlas, Beulah Brady, Jeanette Green, Mernabel Laabs, Mary Smiley and Kathryn Green.
Mrs. Hawks taught at the Curtiss school in 1896 and was a former Abbotsford resident.
