Hansen, Jens (1860 - 31 JUL 1934)

Jens Hansen, age 74, died at his home in the village of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), Tuesday evening about nine o’clock, following an illness of about six months. He came to Withee in 1902, and at that time took up farming, about five years ago he retired and moved into the village.

He was a man well thought of in the community, but during his life never sought a public office nor belonged to any order. However, he was instrumental in building up his township with suggestions that he offered. His advice was often sought.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon from the Danish Lutheran Church at Withee, Rev. Mikkelsen officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

Besides his aged wife, he leaves to mourn, one son, Emil H. Hansen of Withee, and one daughter, Mrs. H.J. Wenheim of Chicago. He also leaves two brothers, one in Chicago and one in Michigan, and three sisters, who reside in Denmark.
