Loyal - March 26, 1886
Just when we are on the point of desperation, for the want of something or other to transpire, to destroy the monotony of life and have an item for the paper, Mr. John Heath comes to our rescue and gets married to Miss Ella Stoneburg, of the town of Eaton. The ceremony was performed by Rev. G. N. Foster at the house of Wm. Mills, Loyal, Tuesday evening, March 23, 1886. The parties went east to Illinois on their bridal tour, to be gone during the summer. May happiness and prosperity ever be yours.
The services of Mr. Henry Holliday as teacher of our village school, are engaged for the spring term; Miss Nesbit, our former teacher for the past year, having closed the winter term, and has gone west visiting friends.
The town board of Loyal embodied the following resolution to be voted on at our next annual town meeting.
"Resolved, by the town board of the town of Loyal, that a high school be established and maintained in said town."
When we take into consideration the fact the state furnishes one-half of the cost of instruction, and that there is a school building already erected, and all that is necessary is to finish the room and seat it, it seems that the people should embrace the opportunity of furnishing a high school education to the young people of the town, that they may not be obliged to go away from home to secure advanced instruction.
