Clark, William #2 (23 DEC 1869 - 24 MAR 1899)
Wm. Clark, who formerly lived about two miles south of town (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.), son of Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Clark, and nephew of the Clark after whom Clark County was named, and one of the noblest young men it has ever been our good fortune to know, died at Skagway, Alaska, Mar. 24, 1899, of pneumonia. He was born and reared in this county, and well known to all our readers. He left here two years ago and went to Menominee, Mich., where he worked for R.J. Sawyer, in the interest of whom he went to the mining district of British Columbia. Last February he started for Alaska to join his brother, and got as far as Skagway, when he was taken with the grip which developed a little later on into pneumonia, the cause of his death. The body was brought here Tuesday by his mother and brother Gid for interment. Brief services were held at the Presbyterian Church, Rev. Creswell speaking.
