BURY OWEN RIVER VICTIM YESTERDAY

Head Struck Rock When he Dove Into Water Six Feet Deep

Owen, July 2, -(Special)--Funeral services were held in Blueberry City Tuesday afternoon for Arthur Le Page, 19, of this city, who was drowned at Feek's dam in Pople creek about two miles from here Sunday shortly after 1 o'clock in the afternoon.

LePage dove from a rock while swimming and struck another rock at the bottom of the river at a point where the water is between six and seven feet deep, rendering him unconscious. He did not rise to the surface.

Ray Hartner and two girls, whose names were not learned, were in the swimming party but are said to have been too frightened to be of much assistance in rescuing the drowning man. It was not until after 6 o'clock that the body was recovered and officially pronounced dead from drowning.
