Hagelschur, Anton (16 Sept. 1848 - Sept. 1933)

Anton Hagelschur, father of Mrs. Joseph Sterzinger of Colby, died at Marshfield at the age of eighty-five after a lingering illness extending over a period of ten years. Funeral services took place at Marshfield on Wednesday and internment was made in the Dorchester cemetery.

The deceased was born in Minster, Germany, September 16, 1848, and, when a young man, he came to this country and lived for some time at Kaukauna. Later, he farmed near St. Cloud, Minn., and Dorchester, Wis. In 1917 he went to Marshfield and made that city his home ever since. He was actively engaged in farming for sixty years. He was married in Germany and his wife died twenty-one years ago. Nine children were born to them, a son, Bernard, dying in 1916 and a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Baettie, in 1918. Those surviving are Mary and Barbara Hagelschur, who lived with their father; Joseph Hagelschur, Kenosha; Mrs. Joseph Sterzinger, Colby; Mrs. Murray Baettie and Mrs. Murray Smoehl, White Lake, and Mrs. Ray Lathrop, Milwaukee. He leaves also, 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
