Rossman, Jacob (29 June 1834 - 18 May 1886)
Rossman - In this city, Tuesday, May 18th, 1886, Mr. Jacob Rossman, aged 52 years.
Mr. Rossman had been sick for two years, the cause of his death being consumption. He was born in Nierstein Hessen Darmstadt, Germany, on the 29th of June, 1834, and came to America with his parents in 1851, settling in Sheboygan County, this state, where he married Catherine Gessert, Dec. 25, 1856. In August, 1874, Mr. Rossman and family removed to this city, where he had ever since resided. He was elected sheriff of Clark County and served his two years from Jan. 1, 1875, to Jan. 1, 1877, giving general satisfaction in that office. He was the father of 10 children, 6 of whom survive him, together with his wife. The children are, George, Louis, Fred, Julius and Emil, and daughter of Amelia. Mr. Rossman had accumulated considerable property during his residence here, and leaves his family in comfortable circumstances.
