Reel, Jesse L. (15 Feb. 1882 - 11 July 1934)

Jesse L. Reel, an industrious and prominent farmer of the town of Colby, passed away Wednesday morning at 3:00 o’clock, cancer of the stomach of two years duration being the cause of his departure to the distant shore. Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Ev. church, Rev. G. F. Hahn officiating, Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock. The pall bearers will be Leo. DuVall, Hugo Dhein, Chas. Schulte, Moritz Kasper, Walter Loos and Wm. Schorer.

The deceased was born in Janera, Ohio, Feb. 15, 1882, thus reaching the age of fifty-two years, four months and twenty-five days. He was married to Lena Teale at Baraboo, Wis., Oct. 7, 1914, where they lived on a farm for seven years when they moved onto their present farm in the town of Colby, seven and one-half miles southwest of the city of Colby. Mr. Reel is survived by his widow, seven children, Theodore, Roland, Delmer, Mary, Virginia, John, Wilbert, all at home, and two sisters and three brothers, namely: Miss Etta Reel and Miss Emma Reel of Findlay, Ohio, and Homer, Samuel and Raymond Reel of Janera, Ohio.

Mr. Reel had been a faithful member of St. John’s Ev. church, a devoted husband and a kind and indulgent father, and, to his friends, the soul of good fellowship. He was held in high esteem in his neighborhood which is testified by the fact that he was a good member of his district school board for three terms. He will not only be missed by the members of his family but also by many friends in his district.
