Ure, Eilen Ray (3 March 1850 - 27 Oct. 1886)
Ure - In the town of Lynn, Oct. 27, at 8:15 p.m., Mrs. Eilen Ray Ure, aged 68 years, 7 months and 24 days.
Mrs. Ure was born at Carron Shore, Scotland. She married her husband, Geo. Ure, (who survives her) at the place of her birth, on March 3, 1850. They moved to Chicago, Ill., May 7, 1855, where they resided six years. From Chicago they moved to the town of Lynn, this county, where they have lived for twenty-four years.
She was the mother of five children, three of whom are living, John, of Lynn, Geo. A., one of the editors of this paper, and Nettie F., of Lynn.
Mrs. Ure was a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church, and a true Christian mother who was devoted to her family.
Coming to this county in an early day, when settlers experienced the hardships of the frontier, she bravely faced the responsibilities of a pioneer life, and did her work nobly. Although she had nearly reached the allotted life of three score and ten, her taking away has left a vacancy at the old hearth-stone which can never be filled. The sympathy of the extended acquaintance of the family is extended to the husband and children who are now mourning the loss of the light of home.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. T. Hendren last Friday afternoon, at one o’clock.
