Esch, Dr. Samuel H. (? - 8 APR 1900)

Dr. S.H. Esch died at Sparta last Sunday, dissolution being the long anticipated and unavoidable result of consumption of the kidneys, with which he had been afflicted for some months, if not years, back. An incident of almost startling interest was that a little daughter was born to Dr. and Mrs. Esch fifteen minutes before he died, the birth occurring at 8:15 and his death at 8:30 a.m. The funeral was held yesterday and those who attended from here were M.C. Ring, Carl Rabenstein, R.F. Kountz, W.W. Taplin, J.D. McMillan.

Dr. Esch was born and raised at Sparta, came here (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.) some 16 years ago, and made a success of his practice as a physician, acquiring considerable property. He was mayor of the city when he died, and had held the position several terms. He leaves many warm friends here, to whom his slow wasting away has been a cause of much distress, and whose sympathy for the family is deep and real.
