Boardman, Samuel C. #2 (10 JUL 1829 - 16 JUN 1900)
S.C. Boardman died Saturday forenoon, June 16th, 1900, at his home in this city (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.), of heart disease. He was walking at the time and without warning dropped to the floor dead. He was 71 years old, having been born in Yates Co., N.Y., in 1829. He came here in 1853 and was married to the wife who survives him, in 1862. He was buried Monday afternoon with Masonic ceremonies, from the house.
Sam Boardman was closely identified with Clark County and this city in many ways, but was essentially of the pioneer period of our history. At one time he did much surveying hereabout for the government, was county treasurer in the ‘70s, and was a prominent Mason in the local lodge, but late years has been in feeble health, and expected to die suddenly, as he did. Besides the wife he leaves a daughter, Frankie. The son, Claire, died some four or five years ago.
Mr. Boardman left an insurance of $7,000 in lodge and other companies.
