Blackman, Sims E. #2 (1846? - 7 JUL 1900)

S.E. Blackman of Pleasant Ridge (Clark Co., Wis.), died at 1 a.m. Saturday, July 7th, 1900, aged 54 years, death resulting from pleurisy and pneumonia, from which he had suffered for some time. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Ridge Church, Rev. A.B. Scovill, officiating, and he was buried in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. He was born at Bennington, Kent, England, came to this country in 1871.

Sims Blackman was one of the best known and respected citizens of the town of Grant, where he owned a fine farm and had done much at his trade as a mason to build houses and barns for his neighbors and others. He built the Hewett red brick block and also the Presbyterian Church here. He was honest as the day and a hard worker and always fulfilled every duty of a good and upright citizen. He leaves a widow, daughter of the late Robt. Howard, three sons, Ralph, Clifford and Algie, and three daughters, Lottie, Evelyn and Sadie. Mr. Blackman will be greatly missed, and his memory long cherished by all.

The family thanks friends for their kindness and sympathy.
