Bass, Clara (1824? - 4 Feb. 1887)
Mrs. Clara Bass departed this life, Feb. 4th, 1887, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Ira Niles, in the town of Pine Valley, Clark County, Wis., aged 63.
Vermont was her native state. Together with her husband and children, she removed to Clark County about twelve years ago. Her husband, Joseph Bass, died near Neillsville a few years ago, since which time Mrs. Bass has made her home with her daughters. One son, Moses, lives in Columbia County. Joseph lives in Easton, this county, and is spending the winter at Hurley. Charles makes his headquarters in Neillsville, Wis. The daughters, Mrs. Sarah Niles, Mrs. Jane Loy, and Mrs. Flora Sample, reside in and around Neillsville, Wis. Her last illness was most severe, continuing for seven weeks; but her patience and hopefulness membership had long been in the M. E. Church, but of late years she had not been able to attend public worship. The funeral was attended from the Presbyterian Church on Sunday afternoon, Rev. W. T Hendren officiating. Thus has a good mother, a kind friend, and a faithful Christian gone to rest.
