Curtis, Mary A. #2 (24 APR 1815 - 11 Dec. 1900)
Grandma Curtis died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dewhurst, Tuesday night, Dec. 11, 1900, aged 86 years, 7 months and 17 days, from general debility incident to old age. She had been unconscious for two days.
Born at Woodbury, Conn., April 24, 1815, Mary A. Hurd moved with her parents to Elyria, Ohio in 1821, was married to Caleb L. Curtiss in 1835, settled near Madison in 1845, and in 1860, a widow, came here (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.) to be with her children, Mrs. Dewhurst, Mrs. Decatur Dickinson and Wheeler Curtis, who survive her.
The funeral will be held at the house Friday at 2 p.m.
Grandma Curtis was a gentle, genial soul, sprightly, and mentally alert, and fond of good company. A grandmother’s club was her delight a few years ago, meeting, we believe, very rarely. Everybody esteemed her most highly, and will long remember her with affection.
