Bandow, Helen (Marriage - 1 June 1935)
A very pretty wedding took place at high noon Saturday at the Zion Lutheran church of Colby, Rev. O. Hoffmann reading the ceremony, when Miss Helen Bandow, daughter of Mrs. Mary Bandow and the late Wm. F. Bandow, became the bride of Fred W. Bodem of Milwaukee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bodem, Sr., of East Prussia, Germany. Mrs. Irene Allen of Fond du Lac, a cousin of the bride, acted as bridesmaid and Melvin Kilty of Edgar attended as best man.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her uncle, Casper Heimes of Colby, was attired in a beautiful gown of ivory satin, princess style and long veil. Her bouquet consisted of spring flowers. The bridesmaid wore a dress of shell pink triple sheer crepe, floor length, picture hat and her bouquet consisted of pink roses and sweet peas.
Following the ceremony, a dinner was served at the home of the bride’s mother, covers being laid for thirty. The home was nicely decorated with spring flowers for the occasion.
The newlyweds will make a trip to Germany to visit the bridegroom’s parents, and, upon their return, about September 1st, will reside at Milwaukee where Mr. Bodem is employed as a mechanic with the Rex Chain Belt Co.
