Ulka, Mike (1 AUG 1853 - 3 APR 1937)
Mike Ulka died at his home in the town of Reseburg (Clark Co., Wis.), of old age infirmities, on Saturday morning, April 3rd, 1937. He had reached the ripe old age of 83 years, 8 months and 3 days.
Deceased was born in Lithuania on Aug. 1, 1853. He came to America in the year 1888, locating in Chicago where he resided for twelve years after his marriage on June 22, 1889.
In 1901 he located on a farm near Thorp, which for the past thirty-six years has been his home and where his wife preceded him in death. Retiring from active work several years ago, his son operated the farm for some time and the past year his son-in-law, Henry Grajkowski and daughter took over the duties.
Deceased leaves to mourn two sons, Joseph Ulka, Chicago, and Michael G. Ulka, Minneapolis, and seven daughters, Mrs. Antonette Dombrou, Mrs. Eleanor Kotecki, Miss Stella Ulka, Mrs. Julia Keller, Mrs. Catherine Miller, of Chicago, Mrs. Anna Petrulis and Mrs. Elsie Grajkowski of Thorp, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral rites were held at St. Hedwig’s Church on Tuesday morning, April 6th, Father F.A. Kulig officiating, and interment taking place in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were: Frank Meske, Victor Lobacz, John Moskiewicz, John Grajkowski and Tony Norks.
