Johnson, Hannah (24 Dec. 1880 - 4 JUL 1937)

(Breezy Hill Correspondent)

Miss Hannah Johnson was born in Norway on Dec. 24, 1880 and passed away at the Victory Hospital in Stanley on the evening of July 4, 1937, at the age of 56 years, 6 months and 10 days.

She came to America with her parents at the age of five.

They lived near Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) until 1891 when they moved to Eau Claire. When she was 17 years of age her parents passed away and she came to live with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Emmerson and son Chris Berg, on their farm at Breezy Hill, Town of Worden (Clark Co.). Several years ago Mr. and Mrs. Emmerson passed to the great beyond. She still remained on the farm until three weeks ago when she was taken to the hospital in Stanley. She has been in poor health for some time and the past years has been almost helpless. Bladder trouble being the cause of her death.

Her retiring nature led her to hide her best qualities from public gaze, but they were revealed to those who enjoyed her acquaintance, yet it was in her home that her true worth was conspicuous.

The only near relatives who survived her are her cousins, Chris Berg, with whom she made her home, and Mrs. Sever Bjornstad of Owen, Wis.

The funeral was conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Bogumill Funeral Home. Rev. J.N. Midtlien of the Norwegian Lutheran Church of Stanley, officiated.

The pallbearers were: Mike Florowski, John Miller, Bert Hubbard, John Misfeldt, Alex Soeller and Chas. Frinack.

Interment was made in the cemetery at Thorp.
