Stochek, John (16 MAR 1855 - 3 OCT 1939)
John Stochek, 84, Spencer, R. 2, died at the hospital at Owen at 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. He has been a patient there the past year. His death resulted from heart trouble.
A rosary service was held Thursday evening at 9 o’clock and the funeral services were held Friday morning from the Albert Chamberland home and at Christ the King Catholic Church at 9 o’clock in Spencer. The Rev. Joseph Graf officiated at the requiem high mass and interment was made in the family lot in Hillside cemetery, Marshfield.
Pall bearers were Albert Vanderhoof, Jay Vanderhoof, William Reinheimer, William Fisher, Joe Hlavach, Henry Fisher.
The flowers were carried by four granddaughters, Mrs., Harold Fandorf, Rosie Stochek, Dorothea Stochek and Mildred Stochek.
Those from away who attended the funeral were Mrs. Joseph Stanel, Mrs. Harold Fandorf and Joseph Stochek all from Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mueller, Marshfield; John Stochek and daughters Rose and Dorothea, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Urlaub and son Joseph and daughter Lorraine of Neillsville, Wis.
Mr. Stochek was born in Austria, March 16, 1855. He was married there to Miss Marie Prusa who preceded him in death January 11, 1932. Fifty years ago Mr. and Mrs. Stochek came to America making their home for a time in Chicago. They also lived at different places in Wisconsin one of them being Highland, before coming to Spencer about 38 years ago with their family, and a short time later buying a farm about 4 miles southwest of Spencer where they made their home, and where Albert Chamberland and family live at the present time.
The surviving relatives include seven children, Mrs. Julia Zazicek and Mrs., Joseph (Rose) Stanel, Chicago; Joseph Stochek and Mrs. Albert (Helen) Chamberland, Spencer; Frank Stochek, Mendota Hospital, Mendota; Mrs. Henry (Mary) Mueller, Marshfield; John Stochek, Wausau. Thirteen grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren also survive. A daughter, Mary, died in childhood.
