Bober, Virginia Louise (November 1919 - August 6, 2007)
Virginia Louise Bober, age 87, of Granton, died peacefully Monday, August 6, 2007 at the Golden Age Living Center in Tomahawk, with her granddaughter Wanda at her side.
Born in November 1919, a native of Chicago, a survivor of the Depression and long hours at a factory during the war years, helped Virginia to become a woman with a fiercely determined character and strength of spirit. Yet she remained a sweet soul with a tender heart and bright joyful smiles that she easily shared with others.
Married in April of 1946 Ginny went on to have two children, Virginia (Herb) Carlson, of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and Raymond (LeLoni) von Bober, of Rhinelander. They were blessed with the love and guidance of a wonderful mother and friend, one of their happiest memories remains those noisy, laughing conversations held during mealtimes.
Virginia loved to cook and is remembered for her wonderful meals and desserts. Virginia would grow misty-eyed when sharing her stories and memories of the times and people she met while they operated their antique store, restaurant, and later a pancake house in Millburn, IL.
She toured the U.S. with her husband in the antique popcorn wagon and in later years loved and called Granton her home. Virginia enjoyed a wonderful loving and cherished relationship with her granddaughter Wanda, her husband Noel and great grandson Nicholas of Ontario, Canada. They shared many happy times, laughter and even tears.
Ginny will be deeply missed and remembered by all her "little stinkers," nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, scattered throughout the USA and Canada. Her feisty spirit and tender smile will be a fond memory of all her friends from the Golden Living Center.
"Grandma you taught me that which is most meaningful cannot be measured and everything that counts often cannot be counted and without the hurt the heart would be hollow. Your spirit, memories and love will live on in all of us. Until we meet again ~"
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Ella (Haase) Reskey; her sister, June; and her husband of 59 years, Raymond Hans Bober, whose love never left her heart.
A graveside service for Virginia was held Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at the Windfall Cemetery in Granton. Pastor John Trewyn officiated.
The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Virginia’s family with funeral arrangements.
