Lieders celebrates 100th birthday July 14th, in Colby
Lillian Leiders, Colby, celebrated her 100th birthday July 14 at the home of her granddaughter, Cindy (Dennis) Koch, Colby.
Many family members and friends joined in an afternoon filled with reminiscing and looking at pictures of years past. Games and the old time music of Lucille Daellenbach, Abbotsford, were enjoyed. Guests attended from Colby, Abbotsford, Stratford, Wausau, Stetsonville, Arbor Vitae and Florida.
It has been an interesting life for Lillian, who was born July 14th, 1907, in Stetsonville to William and Mary Fahrenback. She has lived her entire life in the Stetsonville, Curtiss, Abbotsford and Colby area. She married Orville Lieders Sr. in 1926. They lived in Curtiss for one year and then moved to Abbotsford, where they lived until Orville’s death in 1982. She then built a home in Colby, where she still resides.
Lillian and Orville Sr. started Leiders Trucking in 1928, where she served as the bookkeeper. Over the years she has enjoyed many hobbies, including raising flowers, crocheting, knitting, reading and doing crossword puzzles. She still delights in visits from family and friends.
Lillian is a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church, Abbotsford, Wis. She continues to participate as a member of its Star Circle. On July 22nd, the church honored Lillian with a cake and coffee reception following the church service.
Lillian and Orville Sr. had three children, Dolores (deceased), Maurine (Schraufnagel) and Orville Jr., both of Colby. She counts six grandchildren among her blessings; Cindy (Dennis) Koch, Kevin (Mary) Lieders, Craig (Dawn) Lieders, all of Colby, Brian (Janet) Leiders and Brad (Karla) Lieders, both of Stratford, and Paul (Kathy) Lieders, Stetsonville. Lillian enjoys visits by her 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She has two sisters, Bernice Fussner, Abbotsford and Evelyn Schraufnagel, Colonial Center, Colby.
