Oscar E. Drescher of the town of Grant, died at River Pines Sanitarium Stevens Point, at 12:40 a.m. Monday, December 29, 1941, after a year’s illness with tuberculosis.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 Wednesday at the Schiller Funeral Home followed by services at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Ridge Church. Rev. Obed Asp conducted the rites. Mr. Drescher was born in the town of Grant April 12, 1872, to Frank and Natalia (Keke) Drescher. He had attained the age of 69 years, eight months and seventeen days, spending his entire life in the township of his birth.

Industrious since boyhood, Mr. Drescher learned the carpenter trade, working at carpentry and in the Grassman saw mill at Lynn whenever he could be spared from his duties on the home farm. He also assisted on neighboring farms. In spite of the face that wages were very low, the young man managed frugally and when he arrived at the age of 26, he was able to purchase, clear of debt the 120-acre farm which was his home the balance of his life.

Heaving purchased the farm give years before his marriage; Mr. Drescher cleared land and got the building into good livable condition, thus being able to bring his bride to a comfortable home in 1903. On the 26th day of July, that year, he was married to Miss Lydia Machel at Neillsville, Wis. One son, Warren, was born to this union.

The couple worked together harmoniously and in 1914 they were able to build a beautiful new home to conform with the substantial barn and other fine farm buildings which had previously been erected.

He is survived by his wife and son and a grandson, Jerry Rex Drescher, and by three brothers and three sisters: Alfred, Arthur and Arnold Drescher, all of the town of Grant, Miss Clara Drescher, Neillsville, Mrs. Sarah Klinkert, Racine and Mrs. Ida Pohlkamp, Milwaukee.
