Lube, August (1858 - 24 Oct. 1935)
August Lube passed away last Thursday morning at his home in Colby at the age of seventy-seven years after a lingering illness. Funeral services were conducted from the Lulloff funeral home Saturday at 1:30 P.M. and at the Zion Ev. Lutheran church in Colby at 2:30 P.M., Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating and internment was made in the Green Grove cemetery. Pall bearers were Matt Schmidt, Gust Franz, Wm. Dommer, August Stock, Fred Baumgart and Ernest Podevels.
The deceased was born in Prussia, Germany, in 1858 and came to the United States in 1880, locating in the town of Herman, Sheboygan county, where he was married to Miss Caroline Ritzow on September, 1881. The following year they came to the town of Colby and settled on a farm where they lived until twenty-one years ago when they moved to the city of Colby.
Mr. Lube is survived by three sons, Charles and Herman of British Columbia and August, Jr., of Marshfield, one daughter, Mrs. Louise Gosse of the town of Colby and one sister, Miss Fredericka Lube of Colby. His wife preceded him in death three years ago. A son also died several years ago.
