Kropelin, Anna (2 Feb. 1863 - 14 Dec. 1935)

Mrs. Fredrick Kropelin, a resident of this community for thirty-one years, passed away at her home in the town of Hull Saturday afternoon, diabetes and gangrene being the cause of her departure to the heavenly goal. Funeral services were held at the St. John’s Ev. church Tuesday afternoon at 1:00, Rev. E. Becker officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. The pall bearers were Wenzel Sazama, Joe Sazama, Sr., Louis Sachse, William Graumann, Ed. Brehm, John Biell.

Flowers were in charge of George Kropelin, Elroy Podevels, Lydia Barts and Alice Sellung.

The deceased was born in Menklinburg, Germany, Feb. 2, 1863, and came to the United States with her parents when a child. She was married to Mr. Kropelin at Chilton on December 8, 1884. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Saturday, Dec. 8th, 1934. They lived in the town of Hull for thirty-one years, coming here from Chilton where they lived for nineteen years.

Besides her widower, she is survived by seven children, Mrs. Frank Sellung of Milwaukee, Mrs. Harvey Barts, Mrs. Armin Barts and Mrs. Herman Podevels of the town of Hull, Adolph Kropelin, of Fort Francis, Canada, and Edward and Arno Kropelin, at home. Five children preceded the mother in death. There are twenty two grand children and seven great grand children. Mrs. Kropelin was a member of the ladies’ aid society of St. John’s Evangelical church.

Out of town people here for the funeral Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Kropelin and son, Fred, of Fort Francis, Ont., Canada, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sellung and daughters, Alice, Mary, and Mrs. Ray Janke of Milwaukee, Wis.

Mrs. Kropelin was a good Christian and a faithful member of her church, and, like all our early settlers, was of a kind and hospitable disposition and was always ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed. None ever entered her home without a warm welcome nor left without feeling the warmth of a genuine hospitality, so characteristic of the people of her ancestry.
