Betty Jane Stillman,84 of Granton died Aug. 25, 2007, in the Intensive Care Unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Funeral services for Betty will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, Wis. Allen Zimmerman will officiate. Casket bearers are Patrick Cliver, Tony Cliver, Travis Coyle, Rusty Coyle, Scott Stillman and Bailey O'Neil. Music will be provided by Christine Barnes, soloist, and Jodi Rueth, organist. Internment will be in the Windfall Cemetery in Granton. A luncheon at Chelsea's Supper Club in Greenwood will follow the internment.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, and from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Thursday at the Gesche Funeral Home.
She was born on Feb.29, 1923, in Medford, the town of Molitor, and then worked at the Cyclone Fence Factory in DeKalb ILL., for one year. On May 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Chester Stillman in the parsonage of St. Andrew's in the town of Goodrich, Wis. They moved to this area in 1947, and Betty worked for the Stillman Lumber Co. for 15 years. Later she worked for Auto Test in Neillsville for five years and then for Weyerhauser for 10 years. She retired from driving a school bus for the Granton School District, after 21 years, at the age of 75.
Betty was a member of the Zion American Church in Granton. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting, baking wedding cakes and fishing. But, most of all, she loved her family and she loved spending time with them at their cabin in Phillips.
She is survived by her husband, Chester; their children, Beverly (Kenneth) Vine of Granton, Joan (Bruce) Cliver of Bloomer, Linda (Kenny) Coyle of Granton and Jerry (Debbie) Stillman of Granton; 11 grandchildren, Louann, Lisa, Pat, Tony, Zena, Scotty, Travis, Rusty, Mark, Megan, and Chelsie; and seven great grandchildren, Bailey, Arielle, Shawne, Tyler, Kati, Isabel and Fox. Betty is also survived by two nephews, Allen and Leslie Zimmerman.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Lester Zimmerman.
