Montgomery, Forrest W. (26 Mar. 1918 - 4 Oct. 2000)
Forrest W. Montgomery, 82, of 1216 E. Fourth St., died at 8 p.m. Oct. 4, 2000, at his home.
Family and friends will gather at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Eagles Club from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday for a time of celebration and remembrance of the life of Forrest Montgomery. Lunch will be provided.
At Forrest’s request, there will be no services and no flowers. A memorial will be established at a later date.
He was born March 26, 1918, in Neillsville, the son of William and Julia (nee Florence) Montgomery. He received his education in Marshfield, Madison, Platteville and Marinette schools, and is a Marshfield Senior High School graduate.
He married Berdeen Wichman. She preceded him in death. He then married Eve Gorke Koenig. She also preceded him in death.
He was employed at Adler Bakery in Marshfield from 1933 until the business closed. He owned and operated Edgetown Market from 1949 - 1954, and bartended at numerous supper clubs in the Marshfield area. He was also employed at Figi’s as a gift designer from 1960 until retiring in 1989.
He is survived by one daughter, Terra (David) Birge of Stevens Point; two sons, DuWayne (Karen) Montgomery of Marietta, Ga, and Brett (Linda) Montgomery of Phoenix, Ariz.; two stepsons, Jay Koenig of Marshfield and Mark Koenig of Loves Park, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Louise) Montgomery of Florida.
He was also predeceased by his parents, and by a daughter, Paulette.
Buchanan Funeral Home of Pittsville is handling the arrangements.
