Carlson, Gustave A. (31 July 1895 - 19 Oct. 1986)
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Unity, for Gustave A. Carlson, 91, who died at 5:13 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Home, Medford.
The Rev. Timothy Dusenberg will officiate. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 4 p.m. today at Rux Funeral Home, Spencer.
Mr. Carlson was born July 31, 1895, in Chicago, to the late Adolph and Alma Carlson. At the age of eight, he came with his parents to the Town of Brighton, where he also farmed until 1950.
He married Myrtle B. Piper on Aug. 14, 1919, at Colby. She predeceased him.
He worked as custodian at First Predbyterian Church, Marshfield, and was a highway superintendent for the Town of Brighton for five years. He was sexton for Trinity Lutheran Church for a number of years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War I.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a former member of Unity American Legion.
Surviving are three sons, Marvin, Marshfield; Dale, Appleton and Wallace, Mesa, Ariz.; a brother, Oscar, Abbotsford; five sisters, Elsie Dostal and Edna Osmondson, both of Madison, Dorothy Smith, Ann Arbor, Mich., Esther Schimmel, Lopes Island, Wash., and Bernice Helterhoff, Appleton; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a son, a grandson, and two brothers.
