Wieland, Walter Carl (24 Feb. 1898 - 11 June 1955)
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church for Walter Carl Wieland, 57, who died of cancer, Saturday. Rev. Vander Stoep officiated and burial was made in the church cemetery.
The body reposed at the Lulloff Funeral Home until 11 A.M. Monday when it was taken to the church.
During the service Mrs. J. A. Albert Matson, George Miller Olson, Sharon Olson, Clara Johnson, Jennie Miller and Myrl Meyer sang "Whispering Hope" and "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Mrs. H. Binning at the piano.
Pallbearers were John Olson Sr., Herman Molle, Ansel Messer and Merlin Justman.
The wives of the pallbearers carried the flowers.
Mr. Wieland was born February 24, 1898 at Unity. He received his education here and lived on a farm west of the village until 1947 when he moved to the village and built a new home. He also owned a farm near Tripoli, Wis.
On May 25, 1953 he was married to Estelle M. Gullick at Dubuque, Iowa.
Surviving beside his wife are three sisters, Mrs. John (Minnie) Martin, Tucson, Ariz.; Mrs. Joe (Mary) Leatherbury, Oregon City and Mrs. Annie Wellman, Antioch, Ill.
Three brothers, Albert, Charles and Herman preceded him in death.
Attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Horan and sons, Mrs. Anna Wellman, Antioch, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wellman, Kenosha; Jerry Wellman, Van Dyne, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wellman, Fond du Lac; Mrs. Charles Justman, Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. John Martin, Tucson, Ariz.; Harold Lulloff, Dodgeville; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Johnson, Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Dallman, Colby; Mrs. Beda Henry, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Oelrich and daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Cramer, Gustie Carey, of Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. John Christiansen, Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. James Beals, Floyd West, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd DuCheine, Tripoli; Mr. John Shore, Mrs. Paul Pemper, Mrs. Roya Bleich and Mrs. A. Wilke, Tomahawk.
