Balicki, Daniel C. (October 28, 1959 - August 11, 2007)
Daniel C. Balicki, age 47, of Reedsburg, died on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at the Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center after losing his battle with cancer. He was born on October 28, 1959 in Thorp, the son of Malen and Josephine (Jurgelewicz) Balicki. Dan was a 1977 graduate of Thorp High School. He attended UW-Milwaukee where he earned a B. A. degree in Mass Communication. Dan worked for WRDB, WNFM, and B102 radio stations as news director and later as a sales account manager for over 24 years. He was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Dan enjoyed broadcasting sporting events, watching sports of all kinds and traveling.
Survivors include his sister, Bernice "Bunny" Balicki of Glendale; his brother, Art Balicki of Elkhorn; a niece, Krstin Balicki; a nephew, David (Correen) Balicki; one aunt, Mary (Ted) Woytowicz; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Mary Balicki.
A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg with Father Lorin Bowens officiating. Interment will be in the new St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery in Thorp on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. The family received friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg where a Knights of Columbus Rosary was prayed at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to the American Brain Tumor Association would be appreciated.
The Hoof Funeral Home served the family.
