Anthony, Alice Eliza (27 Aug. 1866 - 1942)
Windfall Corners - Funeral services for Mrs. William Anthony, 75, a resident of the town of York for the last 62 years were held from the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Granton Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. G. W. Longenecker of Neillsville in charge. Burial was made in the Windfall Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wheeler Forman, Herman Schlinsog, Walter Rowe, John Davis, Abie Turner and Ray Mortimer.
Mrs. William Schmidtke and Miss Gertrude Holmes sang, "I Shall be Satisfied," and "Nearer my God to Thee."
Mrs. Anthony was born Alice Eliza Sweet in Herrick, Pa., on August 27, 1866. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Sweet. At the age of 13 she came to Wisconsin with her parents, and settled on a farm in Romadka. There she grew to womanhood; and after the death of her parents she made her home with a sister, Mrs. John Breese, until her marriage December 5, 1894, to William Anthony. They made their home in the town of York.
Mrs. Anthony was a long time member of the Methodist Church, having joined while a young lady. Btu because of ill health in recent years she had not been able to attend services.
Surviving are her sister, Mrs. Breese, and several nieces and nephews.
