Goeden, Theodore (26 Sept. 1863 - 11 April 1942)

Funeral services for Theodore Goeden, 78, were held at Wausau last Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the family home and at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, The Rt. Rev. Msgr. H. P. Toeller officiating. Burial was made in St. Joseph’s Cemetery there.

Mr. Goeden passed away at his home at 828 North Second Avenue, Wausau, April 11, 1942, after a week’s illness. He was born September 26, 1863, at Newburg. On the 25th day of January, 1887, he was united in marriage, at Winona, Minn., to Katherine Groff, who preceded him in death but a few months ago, October 11, 1941. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary’s Church.

Mr. Goeden, a cousin of Mr. and Mrs. John Mertes of this city, at one time was a resident of Neillsville, Wis. He moved to Marshfield more than forty years ago, later moving to Wausau.

Surviving are two sons, George Goeden, Waunakee, and Ben Goeden, 130 N. Fifth Avenue; three daughters, Mrs. Jacob Nickolai, at home, Mrs. Gust Bessert, Schofield, and Mrs. Joseph Haas, Arcadia, Cal., a brother, John Goeden, West Bend; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Altenhofen and Mrs. Lucy Altenhofen, both of Chicago; a step-brother, Otto Goeden, Milwaukee; 12 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

The pallbearers were: John, Peter, Frank and Charlie Rauen, Edgar; Peter Banteas and Harry Edwards, Wausau.

Mr. and Mrs. Mertes attended the rites.
