Fessenden, Elbert (8 Dec. 1867 - 18 March 1942)
West Levis - by Gladys Beeckler
Word has been received that Elbert Fessenden, formerly a resident of the Tonopah district, died in a Wickenburg hospital March 18, after having suffered a stroke at the home of his son, J. C. Fessenden, at Aguila, Arizona. He had returned from the hospital at Fort Prescott but a short time before.
Mr. Fessenden was a Spanish-American War veteran. He was born in the town of Levis, December 8, 1867.
He was accorded a full military funeral Monday in Phoenix, Ariz., by Spanish-American war veterans, who tenderly laid their former buddy to rest in the Greenwood Memorial Cemetery.
In recent years Mr. Fessenden had made his home with his son, J. O. Fessenden, postmaster at Agulia. His wife preceded him in death nine years ago.
Mr. Fessenden has many relatives and friends here, being a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Fessenden. All his boyhood days were spent in this community.
