York Center - by Mrs. Abie Turner
York Center - Ellis Mortimer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Mortimer arrived home last Monday after a hitch-hike trip of three days and nights from California.
A truck drive in the army stationed in California, Ellis was severely injured in an accident some time ago, and was granted furlough to visit his home while recuperating.
CLEAN UP CEMETERY
A number of people of the York Center Community gathered at the cemetery last Friday to clean it up. At the end of the day the cemetery looked best it ever has, but the projected work as not quite completed.
Hubert Graves and son, Dwight, and daughter, Ethel, attended the funeral of Mrs. Emma Bolten at Chippewa Falls last Monday. Mr. Graves was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Bolten.
Mr. and Mrs. Emil Schoenfield and Mrs. Abie Turner attended commencement exercises in Neillsville last Tuesday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. George Searles and son, Myron, and a friend from Richland County were calling on old friends here last Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Buddinger visited Thursday evening at Abie Turner.
