Degenhardt, Leo (6 Apr. 1901 - 21 Apr. 1987)

Loyal - Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal, for Leo Degenhardt, 86, Route 2, Loyal, who was found dead Tuesday afternoon.

The Rev. Robert Streveler, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood, will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Richard Bell, Charles Gregorich, Thomas Kohl, Norbert Degenhardt Jr., Terry Degenhardt and Michael Rottscheit.

Visitation wil be after 3 p.m. today at the Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, and on Friday until service time. The Parish Council of Catholic Women will hold a rosary service at 3:15 p.m. today at the funeral home, where a general rosary will be said at 8 tonight.

He was born April 6, 1901, in Loyal, to Martin and Katherine Degenhardt, and attended schools there.

He married Mary Binder Oct. 17, 1922, in Loyal. They farmed in the Town of Loyal until 1978, when they retired. He also worked for Ditter Well Drilling for 17 years. His wife died Dec. 2, 1984.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Madeline) Bell, Mrs. Walter (Alberta) Kohl, and Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Rottscheit, all of Marshfield, Mrs. Robert (Rose Marie) Gregorich of Spencer, and Mrs. John (Barbara) Lynskey of Minneapolis; three sons, Paul of Marshfield, Norbert of Curtiss, and Lawrence of Monroe Center, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Leo (Julia) Michalski of Marshfield; two brothers, Frank of Loyal, and Alfred of Sparta; 25 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a sister and two brothers.
