Degenhardt, Katherine (11 May 1880 - 21 Jan. 1946)

Loyal - Mrs. Katherine Degenhardt, 55, who for the past three years made her home with her son, Leo, at Loyal, died there at 9:30 o’clock Monday night. She had been in poor health the past two years.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9:30 o’clock at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at Loyal, the Rev. Aloys Zinthefer officiating. The body is lying in state at the Leo Degenhardt home, and burial will be made in the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Degenhardt, a member of the Altar Society of St. Anthony’s Church, was the former Katherine Baus. She was born May 11, 1880, in Monroe County and was married at St. Mary’s Ridge in the same county July 4, 1889, to Martin Degenhardt, who preceded her in death Aug. 29, 1936. The Degenhardts operated a farm at Loyal.

Surviving are four sons, Henry, Leo, Frank and Alfred Degenhardt, all of Loyal; two daughters, Mrs. Leo (Julia) Michalski and Mrs. William (Margaret) Michalski, both of Marshfield; 37 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Math Rondorf of Loyal, Mrs. Peter Schmidt and Mrs. Herman Flock of Cashton, and Mrs. Joseph Laeche, Dubuque, Iowa; and two brothers, William and Herman Baus, South Dakota.

A son, Roman, died in 1930.
