Kropelin, Fredrick (12 Mar. 1861 - 8 Mar. 1936)

Fredrick Kropelin passed away Sunday afternoon at the home of his son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Barts, in the town of Hull, at the age of seventy-four years. Mr. Kropelin suffered a paralytic stroke Friday. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon on the seventy-fifth anniversary of his birthday, at St. John’s Evangelical church, Rev. L. Becker officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby cemetery.

The deceased was born in Germany March 12, 1861, and came to the United States in May, 1884, and settled at Chilton where he was married in December, 1884. They lived in Chilton until 1908 when they moved to their farm in the town of Hull and where they made their home until they died. Mr. and Mrs. Kropelin celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on December 8th, 1934, but Mrs. Kropelin died last December.

Seven children survive - Mrs. Frank Sellung of Milwaukee, Adolph Kropelin of Fort Francis, Canada, and Mrs. Herman Podevels, Mrs. Harvey Barts, Mrs. Armin Barts, Edward and Arno of the town of Hull. There are also twenty-two grand children and six great grand children.

The deceased always performed his Christian duties, and, like all the early pioneers, was a man of generous impulses and never forgot the hospitable ways of the early settlers. His life work was done and well done. He had passed his golden wedding day and had filled the various relations in life and filled them well.

Funeral services for Fredrick Kropelin, whose death was reported last week, were held at St. John’s Evangelical church Thursday afternoon, Rev. E. Becker, officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Joseph and Wenzel Sazama, William Graumann, Louis Sachse, Edward Brehm and Anton VanDreel. Those in charge of the flowers were Georgine Kropelin and Dila Barts. Out of town people here for the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Kropelin and daughter, Georgine, of Fort Francis, Canada, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sellung and daughter, Alice, and Roy Yanke and Adeline Schilling of Milwaukee.
