Martin, Barbara (13 Dec. 1868 - 2 May 1936)
Mrs. John Martin died at 6:15 Saturday morning at the home of her son, Michael Martin, at Colby, heart trouble and pneumonia being the cause of her departure. She had been ill since April 26th. Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s church Monday morning, Rev. L. J. Lang officiating and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. The pall bearers were John Wolf, Alois Roder, Andrew Sukup, Rudie Weix, Alphonse Bauers and Peter Apfelbeck.
The deceased was born in Germany December 13, 1868, thus reaching the age of sixty-seven years, four months and nineteen days. Her maiden name was Barbara Pauly and she was married to John Martin in Germany in August, 1885. They emigrated to the United States in 1891 and lived in South Dakota one year then moved to Minnesota. Nine years ago they came to the town of Hull, Marathon county, where they located on a farm. Three years later, Mr. Martin died after which she made her home with her children. She is survived by eight children, namely: Michael Martin and Mrs. Minnie Glende of Colby, Mrs. William Block of the town of Hull, Richard Martin of Faribault, Minn., John Martin and Mrs. Charles Tyre of Backus, Minn., Mrs. Nicholas Erpelding at Winona, Minn., and Mrs. Ann Glende of Waukesha, Minn. Also twenty-four grand children.
