Short, James Wallace (18 Jan. 1856 - 5 June 1942)
James Wallace Short, 86, passed away, at 3:15 Friday afternoon, June 5, at the home of his son, Wayne, Vesper, Wis.
Funeral services were held here Monday at the Schiller Funeral Home, the Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating. The body was interred in the Neillsville Cemetery.
Mr. Short was born at Erie, Pa., on the 18th day of the January, 1855, to Washington and Lydia (Green) Short.
He was married to Frances Bell Fessenden, who preceded him in death. He is survived by the following children: Wayne, Vesper; Ramona, Mrs. Harold Eidenburger, Arpin; Ruth, Mrs. Walter Bryan, Madison; Ben J. Short, Milwaukee, and Private John W. Short, San Diego, Cal., a sister, Nettie, Mrs. John Clifford, California.
Mr. Short was chairman of the town of Levis for 33 years. He had served the Lynn Insurance company as president and the Levis School district as clerk, also acting on various county committees.
The pallbearers were Frank Dobes, William Horton, Ray Kutche, Ed. Shramek, William Bryan and George Beeckler.
