Schmoll, Norma (Marriage - 6 June 1942)

Miss Norma Schmoll, Granton, and Harold Junchen, Neillsville, exchanged marriage vows at six p.m. June 6, 1942, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Braatz where she had made her home for the past four years. Rev. J. Buth pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, town of Grant, performed the ceremony.

A semi-circle of June flowers which had been arranged in containers across one corner of the living-room formed a beautiful background. The members of the wedding party completed the ring, the Rev. Buth standing within the circle.

The bride was attired in a light blue redingote, wearing a gardenia corsage. Her attendants were Miss Helen Braatz and Miss Elmira Junchen. Mrs. Braatz wore a light blue wool suit, Miss Junchen wearing a navy blue silk redingote. Their corsages, made up of white gladioli with yellow rosebud centers and bachelor buttons were identical. Alfred Gerber and Clarence Braatz, Granton, attended the groom.

Mr. Junchen’s mother, Mrs. Ernest Junchen, wore a flowered silk dress with navy background.

A reception and dinner followed the ceremony, with 35 guests in attendance. A featured of the dinner table was the three-layer wedding cake, baked in the form of a cross. White tapers were placed at the four intersecting points.

The couple left Monday morning on a brief wedding trip to the southeastern section of the state, Returning to Neillsville, they plan to complete the honeymoon trip by driving to Chicago for a short period.

The bride was graduated from the Granton High School and from the teachers training course at Algoma, Wis. She also attended Wausau Business College and Central State Teachers College, Stevens Point, Wis. She taught school in Kewaunee, Dorr and Clark Counties, for the past six years teaching the Reed School in the town of Grant. She has made an excellent record as rural school instructor. Her educational experience also was broadened through travel, having made several trips to the west coast, the Black Hills, Florida, Texas and other southern states and Canada.

The groom completed the rural school course in the home township and attended Neillsville High School. He ha always worked on the farm of his parents, where the couple will make their home.
