She then attended Milwaukee Downer College and became associated with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the Milwaukee Office. She was selected to become a member of the Trust Department of the Bank of West Bend where she was employed at the time of her marriage. On December 18, 1937 she married Carl E. Gerold in Ladysmith. They enjoyed 69 years of marriage. Mary was a member of the D.A.R. from childhood on she was also a member of the Greenwood Legion Auxilary. She must have been Sniteman Pharmacy's oldest customer since her father always brought her to the store and old C.C. would say, "Hello Mary" and give her a piece of candy. Mary was also a member of the Eastern Star in Port Washington and a Den Mother and a member of the Congregational Church in Port Washington. Mary loved playing Bridge and is the sole survivor of a group that played together for 49 years. She loved the area around Rock Dam and even helped pour the concrete for the cottage they built on the lake. She loved reading books and then donating them to the Church in Port Washington. Her latest home in Englewood, Fla. was designed together with her husband Carl in 1975.
Above all, she was a lady and will be sadly missed by her husband. God Bless her.
