Conrad Orthmeier passed away Tuesday morning at the age of 83 years at seven o’clock at the home of his son, Henry Ortmeier, in the town of Hull, a stroke being the cause of his death which came suddenly. Monday, he seemed to be in good health and it was believed that he was recovering from an operation he underwent last fall. Funeral services will be held at the Reformed church in Colby Friday afternoon at 2:00 P.M., Rev. Paul Franzmeier of Greenwood officiating.
The deceased was born on Dec. 18, 1853, at Centerville, Manitowoc county, and was married there to Miss Louise Rehme on April 9, 1880. They operated a farm in Manitowoc county until 1916 when they came here and lived with their daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Dehne, of the town of Hull, until two years ago when Mr. Ortmeier went to live with his son, Henry, also in the town of Hull. Mrs. Ortmeier preceded him in death several years ago. However, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on April 9th, 1930.
Surviving are one son, Henry Ortmeier, and one daughter, Mrs. Edward Dehne. One daughter preceded him in death about ten years ago.
The deceased was a good Christian and of a kindly and friendly disposition which made him many friends who will miss his kindly greeting.
