Funeral services for Miss Eva Barker, of Abbotsford, age sixty-seven who died as the result of a stroke at her home early Monday morning, were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Lutheran church, preceded by brief rites at the home. The Rev. J. Brandt officiated, and burial took place in the Dorchester cemetery.
Miss Barker was born August 4, 1869, at Plover where she resided until the age of three when she came to the town of Holton with her parents, who took up a homestead here. She received her education here, and at the age of 16 began her career as a teacher.
She taught school until 1913 when she purchased a home in the village of Abbotsford where she resided until her death. Miss Barker was also an active member of the First Presbyterian church and taught in the Sunday school there until recently.
Three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Martens, Dorchester; Mrs. Tom Miller, Withee; and Mrs. Fred Peters, Fond du Lac; two brothers, Seth and George Barker, Abbotsford; one step-sister, Mrs. Emma Johnson, Stevens Point; and 22 nieces and nephews survive her.
