Nikolay, Jacob G. (16 Mar. 1891 - 4 Dec. 1937)
Jacob G. Nickolay, age 46, Abbotsford, met instant death Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock when he was crushed by logs which broke away from a rollway at the operations of Peterson & Sons Lumber company, for whom he was employed, near Ironwood, Michigan.
The deceased was born March 16, 1891, at Seymour and was married at Rozellville in 1913 to Miss Anna Illig. After residing at Medford for a time they located at Abbotsford in 1929. During the winters Mr. Nickolay was employed near Ironwood. He is survived by the widow; nine children: Mrs. Helen Archambo, Mrs. Eugene Hess, and Alfred, Melvin, Frank, Jack, James and George Nickolay, Abbotsford and Miss Ann Nickolay, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Nickolay, Green Bay, and seven sisters and brothers, Miss Caroline Nickolay of Shawano, Mrs. Arthur Noise and Miss Eileen Nickolay, Green Bay, John and Albert Nickolay, Los Angeles, Calif., Frank Nickolay, town of Green Valley, and Edward Nickolay of Butte, Mont.
The body was taken to Abbotsford for funeral services which were held Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock at St. Bernard’s church in that village. The Rev. C. D. Brady officiated and burial was made in the parish cemetery.
