Lownik, Leo P. (1930 - September 14, 2007)

Leo P. Lownik, age 77, of Neillsville, passed away Sept. 14, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

An obituary will follow. A memorial service is tentatively planned for Sept. 30, 2007

Lownik, Leo P. (May 18, 1930 - September 15, 2007)

Leo P. Lownik, 77, of Neillsville, passed away peacefully September 15, 2007, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital.

Leo was born May 18, 1930, to Leo and Lola (Nicks) Lownik. He was a graduate of Richland Center High School class of 1948. He attended Rockhurst College in Kansas City, MO graduating in 1952. He entered into active military service on April 15, 1953 during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Ft. Monmouth, NJ, in Signal School. He also served at Camp Gordon, GA, and at the time of his separation on April 14, 1955, he was stationed at Ft. Huachuca, AZ.

Leo entered Marquette University in 1955 and graduated with the Marquette University Law School Class of 1958. Upon graduation, he practiced law with his father in Richland Center. In 1960, then Governor John Reynolds appointed him to complete a term as DA in Crandon, WI.

Leo married Sandra A Sippey on July 20, 1968. They lived in Baraboo for four years where he worked as Business Manager for a local construction company and as Personnel Manager for Klein Industries. Leo and Sandra moved to Neillsville in 1972. He opened an abstract office, Clark County Land & Title, and for the next 35 years he did abstracting, sold real estate and did income taxes.

Leo is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sandra Lownik, of Neillsville; his beloved cats, Wizard, Oz and Auntie M; one brother, Dr. James Lownik, of Wisconsin Rapids; and one sister, Mary Weickgenant, of Minneapolis, MN.
