Patrie, Esther A. #2 (26 FEB 1883 - 8 JUL 1938)
Funeral services were conducted from St. Katherine’s Church Monday at 2 p.m., for Mrs. C.H. Patrie, 55, who passed away at her home Friday, July 8th, 1938. The Rt. Rev. Bishop Frank E. Wilson of Eau Claire officiating. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery, Withee, Wisconsin.
Mrs. Patrie had been a patient sufferer for the past two years during which time she had been under constant medical care. However, her cheerful disposition and the desire to live and overcome her sickness won the admiration of her many friends.
Mrs. Patrie was a pioneer resident of this community, having lived at Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) and Owen all of her life.
Esther Ann Tufts was born Feb. 26, 1883, in the village of Withee, where she spent her early childhood. Upon graduating from high school she attended college at Dixon, Illinois. On Oct. 8, 1904, she was united in marriage to C.H. Patrie. To this union was born one child, a daughter, Mrs. Ben Wing of Marshfield. For the past thirty years Mrs. Patrie and her husband have lived in Owen where they have managed the Woodland Hotel. Mrs. Patrie was a member of St. Katherine’s Guild, of which she always took an active part in the organization’s doings.
Mrs. Patrie is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Ben Wing of Marshfield, a brother, William C. Tufts, also of Marshfield, a half-brother, Lamont, and her step-mother, Mrs. Mary Tufts of St. Joseph, Mich.
The flower girls were Mrs. V.P. Barager, Mrs. Rolland Haire, Bernadine Sturgeon, Marie Sutter, Beverly Duncan, Mrs. Janet Wilson and Mrs. Henry Weddig. The pallbearers were M.G. Duncan, E.W. Kidd, W.J. Mahoney, George Krom, Harvey Weddig and M.H. Williams.
