Kunkel, Mae (31 May 1927 - 21 Aug. 2007)
Mae Kunkel, 80, Town of Frankfort, died on Tuesday, August 21st 2007, at Continental Manor Nursing Home, Abbotsford, Wis.
Funeral services were held August 24th at St. John’s Lutheran Church High Steeple, Edgar. Reverend Matthew Christians presided and burial was in the church cemetery.
Mae was born Mary 31st, 1927, in Sheboygan to the late Arno and Meta (Schmitt) Greiff.
On June 2nd, 1956, she married Leopold Kunkel at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sheboygan.
She had worked as a secretary for Hydraulic Tools in Sheboygan and then farmed with her husband. In her younger years, she played and managed a softball team and was an avid bowler. She enjoyed growing flowers, especially gladiolas.
Mae was a longtime volunteer and song leader at Continental Manor. Mae was a 50 year member of St. John’s Lutheran Church High Steeple, Edgar. For many years, she taught and was supervisor of the Sunday school program, taught vacation Bible school, past director and member of the church choir and member of the Evening Guild.
Survivors include her husband, Leopold, Town of Frankfort; three sons, Keith (Cindy), Sussex, Kevin (Dawn) Rothschild and Kent (Julie), Edgar; and eight grandchildren.
Helke Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
