Gertrude Vogel was born on June 22, 1908, in Loyal, to Frank and Lida (nee Clouse) Vogel. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in the Loyal area. She married Frank J. After retiring, she spent much of her time quilting (she made quilts for all of her grandchildren), sewing, cooking and baking. Her husband, Frank, died on Dec. 2, 1993. She continued to reside in Loyal until moving to the Angelus Retirement Community, Neillsville, in 2002. She entered the Neillsville Memorial Home in December 2003, and resided there until her death. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and its P.C.C.W.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Albert Degenhardt, Milwaukee, Don (Kathy) Degenhardt, Green Bay, Ken (Lois) Degenhardt, Milwaukee, Harvey (Bonnie) Degenhardt, Darlene Klann-Dousman, Sue Kohlnhofer, Brookfield, and Nancy Schmidt, Waukesha; 32 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 40 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
