Hilton, Elma M. #2 (18 JUN 1929 - 31 AUG 2007)

Elma Mae Hilton, 78, Owen, died on Friday Aug. 31, 2007, at Clark County Health Care Center. Memorial services were at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee. The Rev. Dale Sleznikow officiated.

Elma Mae Wallick was born on June 18, 1929, in Lincoln, Neb., to Emmett and Isabelle (nee Hoyle) Wallick. When she was 1 ½, the family moved to Los Angeles, Calif. where she graduated from high school. She married Fred Hilton on Jan. 9, 1950, in San Francisco by the justice of the peace. From1948 to 1952, she lived in Hawaii and from 1952 -1957 she and her husband worked on a ranch in South Dakota. They purchased a farm in Greenwood and operated it from 1957-1969. They then purchased the Hiway Grocery store in Withee and operated it from 1969-1987. When they retired, they moved to Marshfield, returning to Owen in November 2006.

Survivors include her husband, Fred Hilton, Owen; her children, David (Leslie) Hilton, Loyal; Nyle (Jessica Ham) Hilton, Tomah; Diana (Robert) Wagner, Owen; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Lou Querin, Cottage Grove.
