Ewert, Viola (13 Nov. 1916 - 12 Oct. 2007)

Viola Ewert, 90, of Manitowoc died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.

Viola was born Nov. 13, 1916, in Colby, daughter of the late Louis and Ida (Lube) Gosse. On March 6, 1943, she married Edwin Ewert in Wausau. He preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1979. Viola loved fishing, enjoyed baking, gardening and watching her granddaughters grow up.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Sherry Ewert, Manitowoc; two granddaughters, Michele Ewert (Kenneth's daughter), Green Bay, and Elissa Ewert (Dennis' daughter), Bloomington, Ind.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Herman and Hazel Gosse, and Melvin Gosse, all of Colby; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Anita Schuh, Marian Krueger, Harriet Laabs, all of Colby, Dorothy and Ray Rodriguez, North Carolina; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

Viola was also preceded in death by one son, Kenneth; one sister-in-law, Betty Gosse; and three brothers-in-law, Arthur Schuh, Alvin Krueger and Alfred Laabs.

Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, at the Community Funeral Home in Colby. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Kenneth Dix with burial to follow at Colby Memorial Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
