Kiel, Peter (10 MAY 1855 - 13 APR 1939)
Peter Kiel, a former resident of Thorp, died of heart disease at his home in Gilman on April 13th, 1939. He was 83 years, 11 months and 3 days old, having been retired from active business and farm work for 24 years.
The deceased was born in West Prussia on May 10, 1855, coming to America in 1882. He resided for two years in Milwaukee, eight years in Wheeling, W.Va., and for 21 years in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), locating here in 1895. He was married to Anna Holtz in 1880 and she still survives him. Mr. Kiel was active in affairs of the township of Withee and served as supervisor of that town for 18 years.
Surviving relatives are three sons, John of Milwaukee, Joe of Mizpah, Mont., and Stanley of Gilman; three daughters, Mrs. Frances Zwolinski and Mrs. Barbara Strzok of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Anna Hoffman of Miles City, Mont.
The funeral services were held at St. Peter and Paul’s Church at Gilman, April 17th, Rev. Kolman officiating, and interment taking place in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were, Louis Zaborowski, Joe Turek, Frank Rogalski, John Stasczuk, Mike Krakowiecki, and Joe Wisniewski.
